Back to the Future

Let us go back to when we had a future, 

a version of us clean and new.

Remember those days when our best days were waiting, 

and I was just waiting with you.

Sometimes this world leaves us weary and beaten, 

some days: they bring only age. 

But let us recall all our happiest days, 

let history turn back its page.
Some days my hover board barely can hover-
my self lacing shoes are too tight-
but I can remember a simpler time
when just being with you made things right. 

So let us return to our younger personas, 

unwrinkled and without a care.

We were so young then, our lives still before us, 

and darling, you had all your hair.
