XXXX

Kiss me
breathless.
Brush my hair
from your eyes
and hold my hand
like it is your
last hope.

Kiss me
dizzy.
Smile your secrets
across the room
and teach me
how easy it is
to fly.

Kiss me
hungry.
Cement yourself
to my soul
and leave your
fingerprints along
my spine.

I ask for so little,
beloved.
Only that you
kiss me.

Paradox

I give advice
that I hope
you don’t take,
sing a punchline
when I’d rather
weep,
I sell my
laughter for cream
in my coffee,
don’t tell me
that good things
aren’t cheap.
I water flowers
that bloom in
the desert,
fold socks
into unmated
pairs,
I scream
soliloquies
into my pillow,
and am shocked
to find nobody
hears.
I’m just
a picture
of all that I
once was,
I hope that
you don’t mind
the view,
I keep on
changing,
the channels
are flipping,

But darling,
you still feel
like you.

Adrenaline

I will
never be
an adrenaline
junkie-
extreme sports
hold no magic
for me.

I have never
understood
feeling
too safe,
having to
invent
new ways
to put myself
in danger,
aching
for the fear
to tell me
I am still
alive.
The quiver
in my stomach
doesn’t hold
arrows
or butterflies,
it barely holds
my lunch.

Every morning,
hands clasp
too tightly
and a plane
dives into

the sea.

Driven

Tell me something, love,
and let us paint
the ceiling
with our laughter.
Roll down
your windows
and play me
the music
of all of my memories.
We will sing,
offbeat and
out of tune-
the only key we need
is already
in the ignition,
and we will not
linger at lights
long enough
to feel the stares
we must be getting.
Get in the car, beloved,
and leave
all of our problems
in the rear view mirror.
All we need

is this.

Puddlejumper

Maybe I always
jump in
too quickly,
and perhaps
my feet are
cold and wet,
but darling,
what fun
is the rain
if we do not
dance in it?
What good
is a bed
if you are
not here
to keep me

warm?

Sleep on It

If they take the bed,
we will sleep on the floor. I
need no sheet but you.

Save it For a Rainy Day

On the days
when even
the sun
has grown
dim,
when the
clouds paint
the sky
gray,
and shadows
threaten
with open
mouths,
I will
be there,
too.
When you
cannot
block out
the thunder
of your
thoughts,
and the
lightening scars
do little more
than scare,
beloved,
I will
still be
there.

Better Out Than In

And I will turn myself
inside out,
empty myself
of everything
I have hidden away
from Your sight.
You will see it all.
Between us,
there can be
no secrets.
