Where will you hide, Love?
Under which rock will you wait?
I will turn them all.

Notes to a Prodigal
If
you are reading this,
darling-
when
(I hope)
you read this,
remember:
the same moon
that watches you
still dances across
my sky.
And the breeze
that now whispers
across your cheek
first teased the back
of my neck,
and the oceans
are deep
and blue
and wild
on both coasts.

I've Been Burnt By You Before
So I will rid myself of you:
pull you-
cleverly hiding-
from my skin,
scrape you
from my fingernails,
wash you
down the drain.
For too long I have lived
under your spell,
but now I am clean and
pink and
new.

Untitled
I'm giving up on getting
everything I ever dreamed,
the stars I reached for shine
a little farther than they seemed,
and maybe it is selfish to think
happiness decreed,
but I will never give up loving you.
I'm letting go of wishes
that I held too dear to name,
hoping that my children
never have to do the same,
praying for them courage
and a spirit that's untamed,
but I will never give up loving you.
I'm making peace with making beds
and sleeping in them nightly,
with biting tongues and swallowing
my words through throats closed tightly.
I'm turning all my scars into some
thing you will think more sightly,
but I will never give up loving you.

World Environment Day
I had
galaxies inside me
but you
had stopped searching the stars
long ago.
My oceans
held multitudes,
but you
never learned to fish.
